Storm Stories: A Juried Exhibition

Our September Gallery is a year in the making. This Juried Exhibition is in conjunction with the oral history project, Storm Stories. Instead of the usual Opening Reception, we will be holding a closing reception on September 28th, from 5-7:00 pm, to honor the one year anniversary of Hurricane Ian.
Healing Massage or Reiki
September 9, 10am-12pm
We’re hosting 4 Saturday sessions where professional massage and Reiki therapists donate their time to provide 15 minute sessions for people who were impacted by Hurricane Ian.
This Saturday, 9/9, we invite First Responders (emergency medical personnel, firefighters, police officers, paramedics, etc.) to come in for your free 15 min. Massage or Reiki session. Simply call the Alliance at: 239-939-2787 to reserve your time between 10am and 12pm.
Hurricane Ian Book Launch: “Storm Stories” presented by Gulf Coast Writers Association
September 9, 7-9pm
Join GCWA as they honor and highlight contributing authors for their newly released Hurricane Ian anthology, “Storm Stories.” This event is free and open to the public, but an RSVP is required. Register here.
The book contains 80 stories by victims of Hurricane Ian. They are stories of survival, loss, heroism, humanity and resilience. Selections from these stories will be performed by the Tamiami Tale Tellers at this book launch event. This Saturday, 9/16, we invite Anyone who stayed in place during Hurricane Ian (whether in your own home, a shelter or other local location) to come in for your free 15 min. Massage or Reiki session. Simply call the Alliance at: 239-939-2787 to reserve your time between 10am and 12pm.
Free Family ArtLab: Resiliency Garden

For September we will be working on a Resiliency Garden sign to commemorate the year anniversary of Hurricane Ian, and to honor all those impacted.

Zentangle Inspired Art Class: Planting Seeds for Peace and Recovery
September 23, 11am-2pm
Join us for this fun filled experience where we explore the magic of breath work and creativity. The class is $60 for Alliance for the Arts Members or $75 for non-members.
Storm Stories Exhibition Closing Reception
September 28, 5-7pm
Join us for a free closing reception on the anniversary of Hurricane Ian. We will celebrate the artists included in the exhibition, provide light refreshments, and host a short, meditative sound bath as we all come together as a community to reflect on the year since Ian made landfall.
